Auto show

Hey! Guess where I went Friday evening? If you guessed the auto show you would be right. Hence the title of the blog, Auto Show. Clever huh?
The evening started out with supper at a local restaurant, then a fairly quick ride into Boston of 11 or so miles to the exhibition hall. It was practiclly a straight line from where we ate. We go over the Zakim Bridge into a tunnel. All of this the result of the notorious "Big Dig". There are many cars entering the tunnel. It's still only 6:45. Everybody is moving along at 50-55 mph
clip. It can be tricky trying to change lanes as cars are passing you left and right. I see an opportunity coming up to move to the right. I look over and see a clearing in the traffic coming up. The instant I look back straight ahead  the car in front of me is stopped dead. Fortunately I was far enough behind him that I got my car slowed down in time for a controlled stop. It's one of those things that happen suddenly. A sheer heart attack moment. After about a minute and a half of watching cars whip by on the left and right our lane started moving again. There were 4 or 5 cars in front of us so I couldn't tell what was going on until I finally made it to the right lane and passed a guy in a Honda Civic. His hood was crumpled and his grill was smashed and he was limping along unlike like the rest of the maniacs.

We get to the show and it was pretty much like any other auto show. I got to check out a couple of cars I was interested in. Most of the mainstream cars look the same as they did last year. The exotics, the odd, the extravagant, the sexy and the vintage cars are what's the most fun. There are a good amount of pictures so I'm thinking I'll publish two blogs at almost the same time. This is one of the times that I miss Spaces. You could have your photo albums right at the top of your space. One or two clicks and you could see the whole album and make comments on the individual photo's if you so desired. On the the other hand in general it became a jumbled mess. This place is more cozy.

Anyway we roamed around for about two hours and had a far less adventurous ride home. All in all a good evening out save for the little cardiac arrest incident.

A Dodge Challenger, I think.

A Dodge Charger.

A Chrysler 300. An impressive looking car close up.

Mustang

I lover the interior of the Ford Taurus. Didn't take a picture though. I wouldn't mind owning one of these but the model I want is out of my league.

The Ford Fusion. It's in my league. Even the top model. It's a little smaller than the Taurus but can be had with many of the features I would like. A very nice mid size car.

A mid 60's Mercury hot rod.

A hot rod Mustang.

I'm not real sure about the year, about a 1970 Dodge Charger.

This thing looked so stupid lowered as it was.

Lamborghini

A Doge Charger or Challenger. Whatever. Good looking cars though.

I'm not sure if this is a Pontiac GTO but it's a Pontiac. The engine is a bit overkill but these are show cars not race cars.

Okay the second and hopefully last batch of pictures will be published in a bit.
I'm outta here.

  1. I finally found the beginning of these photos. They are excellent Paul. I think you should put them on Flickr.
