Facebook. I'm not sure.

I joined Facebook several years ago and never went back until a couple of months ago. On the one hand it has put me in touch with friends who I haven't had contact with for about 30 years including my Godchild. I like this part very much. On the other hand some of the posts I've seen are really nonsensical. Is it really relevant or important that you had a steak last night and it was really delish? And then you respond that you like it? It seems so superficial. I spend enough time in front of the computer screen as it is. So basically I'm torn between staying with for the purpose of keeping in touch with friends I haven't seen in years. As far as posting there I suppose I will from time to time but I can't treat it like I treat blogging. I enjoy blogging. It is a chance to be creative in any number of ways, not that I have posted really important stuff here but at least I try to make it something that might interest someone. I have to think about what I will post. So I am in a bit of a quandary over it. All the people who I have reconnected with have been really nice to me and I am truly happy to be able to communicate them again, but in the long run I will probably end up treating it more as less as another blog. I just don't know if I will be able spend the time in front of the this screen for both places on consistent basis.
I've talked to some friends about Facebook and responses range from, "I love it!" to "It's stupid". So I'm just curious as to what my Blogger friends think.

Continuing with my reorganization of all the pictures I've taken over the last 10 years, here are more taken on what is called the Kankamangus Highway in New Hampshire.

Yeah that's me. Ok that's it for this pulse pounding entry.
I'm outta here.

  1. Yes, I belong to FB and have 11 "friends." They are real friends. They are long-time friends and 4 are relatives.
I'm a "lurker" and don't publish much, don' "like" and rarely "comment." I go to some sites when I'm bored and see what is going on with other people I know. I don't spend much time there, and have used the "private" options. One thing I do like is that I can send "private messages" to anyone "friend," or not. I have belonged since 2007 and have deleted almost everything I ever posted. I hate that people, friends or not, can tag my site and then I can only hide the stuff, not delete it.

  2. OK so you spend what time you want. Little or a lot it is up the individual what you post on FB. While I agree that it is not like Blogging at all, it does keep people in touch with each other. I try not to post a lot or crazy things there that others do. In private our group keeps in touch with each other in crisis and in joy. When Beth had a tornado hit her town and home the only way some of us could find out what was going on was go there and leave messages. When she died I was devastated...going to the private group we all wrote out our feelings and memories of her there..it was comforting. I wrote a blog about if there was NO FB I would be spending more time at my blog. I would just need that outlet to the world. . I kept my Blogger and my Wordpress blogs, I wil NEVER delete them... and I use them but not like I used to. I don't post as much as I used to. My advice is just have FB and use it when you want to and at least have an extra place where others and family can keep in touch with you. You can add only those you want to and set your security so you don't get anything you don't want to see. It was so nice to see you there. :-)

  3. I would use (or not) Face Book for what it does for you. I wouldn't concern my thoughts as to how others use it. You can skip looking at their pages. Beth loved her FB page just as she did her blogs. Oh I miss her so much.

  4. I have a handful of friends I check on every morning. Yes the sisters in Beloit and Carol in MI and so on. I touch base with everyday slice of life with friends and a couple family members. I play games with a number of friends and it's fun. Use it however you want Paul. Nice photos especially the last one of the handsome man!!

  5. Boston Boy, You are very good looking. :):) I think you'll like FB to stay in touch with people you do not see often.Or even someone you would like to find. But you can't pour your heart out...without someone maybe calling you whiny or saying "suck it up DA" I have heard too many mean things about FB. Glad you found your Godchild though. MY sister in law tells everything on FB...she will show photos of where our brother has fallen and gone to the hospital and none of us know a thing about it. WTH. Loved your pictures, take care. Tell Arlene hello from us. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
