I'm back.

Yes I took what was a partly unscheduled break from my blog and the computer in general. I won't write a list of excuses but I have to tell you I do feel guilty when I haven't checked in. Some of you have become good friends. One of my friends, who I've known since Spaces has shut down her blog. I'll miss you Angie. Maybe you'll come back. I don't have that many friends to begin with. I suppose I might have a few more if I blogged daily but I just can't manage it. I don't have that much going on in my life. On the plus side I will be completely debt free, at least for now, in a couple of months. Don't worry though, I'm ready to spend again. I need a new bedroom set. It's 30 years old. It was cheap furniture when I bought it and has held up pretty well but it's time. I was going to buy a new car in June but I am having second thoughts. My present car has been a gem. It could use a couple of cosmetic fix-ups and a set of tires but that's it. Right now spending a bit of money on my car sounds much more economical than spending anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 on a new car.

I have to say that as I write, I realise how much I missed doing this. The last actual blog entry I wrote was two weeks ago. For the most part I have no idea what I'm going to write, apart from maybe a few references from work. Like the lady with the unknown accent wanting turkey breath. I'll always cut a person with an accent slack, but it can still give you a chuckle. It's the English speaking ones that are more amusing. One guy was asking for natural casing hot dogs, but he said. "I want 4 Kayem hot dogs in the original casing". That would be a cow and a pig.

I did visit one of my sisters a few times in the last couple of weeks. I finally did something I always forgot to do. I wrote down something my brother in law said. Sometimes it's just a twisting of words making the sentence sound ridiculous. Such as, "I will be bald again." Well he is goal oriented. Several nights back while sitting at my sisters kitchen table the subject of food came up. Not unusual in an Italian home. The subject turned to ravioli. Then lasagna. My brother in laws eyes lit up. "I like ravioli but I don't like lasagna. Lasagna intimidates me! It's too big! It's not pleasing to my eye. Ravioli is okay. I just don't like lasagna. I'm sorry. This is the way I feel." It was a sincere and heartfelt statement.
All this startling  disclousure did was bring forth gales of laughter from my sister and I. He was so serious of his fear of lasagna. Aparently the layers of pasta and ricotta cheese are too much for him to deal with. I had no idea he was pastafobic.

I am writing this on Sunday evening at around 7:40. I probably won't publish tonight but will Monday morning. I have another long day on Monday and won't be home until 9 p.m. Tuesday I have a doctors appointment. It's been over a year and though I feel fine, it can't hurt. I do have a few questions for him though. I have maintained my weight at 148 lbs. for four years now. I was 180 at the beginning of 2007. Still I always get the jitters before I go to the doctor fearing that my cholesterol or blood pressure will be up and he wants me to take some pill.

So now it's Monday morning. Work beckons in a couple of hours. Spring is a month away. Baseball is has begun it's spring training. I don't know if this happens anywhere else but every year a large tractor trailer leaves Fenway Park for Florida packed with all the Red Sox gear. This is a big deal around here with heavy TV coverage. People actually go to the park to watch the truck leave and it gets covered by the 4 major TV stations complete with on scene reporters telling you that the truck is leaving. I suppose it's just the first hint of spring. As I write this snow is falling. It's only supposed to be a few inches. We have had a fair amount of melting but there still is a lot of snow on the ground. At least the ugly blackened snow piles will get a freshening.

I heard an ad for a local car dealership yesterday. It had a family name such as "Smith" Chevrolet. They advertise  doing business the "Smith" way. You may ask what the "Smith" way means? You then hear a female voice ask that very question. The owner answers, "If we advertise a car, whether on TV, radio or print, we will have that car in stock when you come in."
Imagine that? Having something you advertise  for sale actually in stock. I guess the "advertise something that's not in stock program" didn't work as well as they expected. I know that dealerships will advertise a car and when you get there they tell you they only had one and it just sold. Still it just seemed like a lame way to advertise and it shows just how sneaky car dealerships can be. I have never looked forward to having to deal with those shark like sales people.

OK. I've gone on long enough. I have to hit the showers. I will look in on you folks either tonight or tommorow. Another long week begins.

I'm outta here.

  1. Well, I wondered where the heck you were, I mentioned you in my..her...blog this morning and then bee lined over here to ask where ARE you only to find that thank goodness you said something.

I don't have many friends either. Guess a lot of that went away with Spaces. But you learn to write to a few and of course, be grateful they are there to write to.

I would love to hear all of the malapropisms you are privy to behind that counter. I'd have to keep a pad nearby to write them down in case I forgot one because they are FUNNY!

    Missed you..glad you're back.

  2. Golly gee, you have been busy working to get rich. I would think twice also about buying a new car. The way gas prices are maybe a bike and you could get those cool speedo spandex or whatever they are called. Loved the 'bald again'. He sounds like ah hoot. Lasagna can be daunting but I'm the opposite, a pastaholic. I attend PP (Pastaholic People) meetings every week. PP takes alot of pressure off.
Have a good week making money and cuttin cheese!

As far as space friends, I have kept the most important ones and made some new ones that just stopped by my blog to visit. Not many comments anymore. I think most of our old friends are busy playing games on facebook.
Good job on being debt free!
